An advocate for diversity in literature, author Minh Lê has been tapped to help kick off UC San Diego’s 2022 Asian and Pacific Islander American Heritage Celebration. The San Diego-based writer will serve as the keynote speaker for the annual scholarship awards ceremony on May 6.

After welcoming students to the west side residential areas in the fall, the east side of North Torrey Pines Living and Learning Neighborhood is starting to spring to life. This quarter, the UC San Diego Craft Center welcomed the campus community to meet its new instructors, a three-story HDH dining area with five restaurants and a market brought flavors from across the globe.
There are more than 430 military connected students at UC San Diego. One area on campus that has spearheaded efforts to support these students is the Student Veterans Resource Center, which focuses on providing services and programs in collaboration with campus partners.
In 2012, the popular UC San Diego Craft Center abruptly closed. Students, staff and faculty, who enjoyed a variety of non-credit classes and programs including ceramics and glass blowing to photography and weaving, were shocked and saddened. But the uproar from neighbors, who for decades also enjoyed the center that connected the campus and community, was surprising.
Amanda Schochet could not have predicted that her love for science would lead her to become a storyteller who shares the wonders of the world via miniature museums. Schochet earned two degrees from UC San Diego, including a bachelor's in biology in 2011 and a master's in ecology, behavior and evolution in 2014.
