UC San Diego Confab Features Trailblazing Entrepreneurs
Jim Ruby, UC San Diego’s vehicle fleet manager, has won a “Sustainability All-Star” award from Green Fleet magazine in recognition of his efforts to establish one of the greenest fleets in the nation.
During the 2010-11 academic year, UC San Diego enrolled the largest number of new transfers and underrepresented students in its history. From artwork to outreach, the university continued to institute programs and policies aimed at enhancing campus climate and welcoming a diverse community.
Four undergraduate students at the University of California, San Diego have received the 2011 Undergraduate Library Research Prize for their outstanding research skills. The prize, which is co-sponsored by the UC San Diego Libraries, the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs, and the UCSD Alumni Association, includes cash awards of $1000 and $500 for first and second place.
The Triton spirit was felt throughout UC San Diego’s annual “Welcome Week” tradition. The Unolympics, Welcome Week dance, Students Services Fair and the Triton Power Hour were just a few of the week’s events, all designed to foster UC San Diego’s school spirit and sense of community for both new and returning students.
The University of California, San Diego will welcome an estimated 3,400 incoming freshmen and record 2,750 transfer students for the first day of classes, Thursday, Sept. 22.
