In recognition of a generous gift from Deepak and Varsha Israni, UC San Diego is proud to establish the Suraj Israni Center for Cinematic Arts within the Division of Arts and Humanities, the university’s hub for creative and academic advancement in culture, music, theater, film and the arts.
Due to the extraordinary relationship between UC San Diego and the world-renowned La Jolla Playhouse, Department of Theatre and Dance faculty, students and alumni bring their expertise and talent to the Playhouse’s latest production, “to the yellow house.” Opening Nov. 16, the play brings the world of Vincent van Gogh to life at the Mandell Weiss Theatre in the Joan and Irwin Jacobs Theatre District.
From the iconic “Sun God” to the bold “Fallen Star,” the Stuart Collection has made its mark on the UC San Diego campus over the past four decades. This October marks the 40th year of the collection, which continues to expand since it was first established through an innovative partnership between the Stuart Foundation and the university. Now with 21 works, and another currently under construction, the sculptures have become an unforgettable part of UC San Diego’s landscape, enriching the cultural, intellectual and scholarly life of the campus.
The University of California San Diego’s Holocaust Living History Workshop (HLHW) is returning this fall with a yearlong series of seven lectures that underscore the theme “Beyond the Great Silence: The Holocaust in Art, Memory, and Life.”
