The University of California, San Diego is the 5th most popular school in the nation for college applicants, according to U.S. News & World Report, which recently released the list of colleges and universities with the highest level of applications for 2010.

The University of California, San Diego is opening its doors to parents, families and students for the fourth annual All-Campus Family Weekend Oct. 21 – 23 to give participants a sample of UC San Diego’s excellent location, academic programs and quality of life. The fun-filled weekend will feature comedic performances, an alumni barbeque, visits to the Birch Aquarium and a “green eggs and ham” brunch among other events.

The London-based higher education magazine partnered with Thomson Reuters for the “World Universities Rankings 2011-2012,” which recognized UC San Diego for its learning environment, ground-breaking research and economic impact.

Kim Barrett was recently reappointed Dean of Graduate Studies after a successful five-year term providing outstanding leadership and making significant contributions to promoting the highest standards of excellence in graduate education at UC San Diego. As dean, Barrett oversees all academic and non-academic aspects of graduate education at UC San Diego, with responsibility for more than 4,000 graduate students.
