At UC San Diego, the campus community commemorated Juneteenth with a vibrant afternoon celebration dedicated to honoring Black excellence. The event featured powerful speeches, live performances and more, all aimed at celebrating the rich history and contributions of the Black community.
This year, UC San Diego’s Black Resource Center and Raza Resource Centro both celebrated 10-year anniversary milestones. Photos of the 2024 Black and Xicanx/Latinx graduations, held this past June 14, capture the community, culture, strength and joy the centers weave into students’ lives.

June 15 marked an All Campus Commencement of “firsts” for UC San Diego: the first major commencement ceremony held at night—ending with a stunning fireworks display—and the first time the university has selected not one, but eight outstanding student speakers.
With nervous smiles and anticipation, the students lined up outside the Ong Family Auditorium at University of California San Diego. Inside, it was standing room only as family and friends gathered to witness a historic White Coat Ceremony.
