As part of Triton Weeks of Welcome at UC San Diego, students were invited to join in a fall festival that included bungee jumping, beats by the campus’s Deejays and Vinylphiles Club (DVC), a photo booth, games like Guitar Hero, free food and and more. The annual event hosted by A.S. Concerts and Events is just one of many held throughout the year.
On Sunday, Sept. 24 students were invited to “Meet the Beach,” an annual event hosted by Recreation to introduce new Tritons to the ocean adventures that await just a short walk from the campus. Activities ranged from surfing lessons and aerial silks to a “muscle beach” with weights and kayak tours.
Each year during Triton Weeks of Welcome, UC San Diego’s seven undergraduate colleges compete for the coveted Golden Shoe Trophy. They must excel in games such as sack races and an egg toss, as well as wow the judges in a choreographed dance.
There’s so much to explore at UC San Diego for those who have just set foot on the sprawling campus. As new and returning students arrived for the start of the fall quarter, they were embraced by their college community and got immersed in activities across the university.

New and returning students took part in more than 150 TWOW social activities, representing just a taste of what UC San Diego students can expect to experience at the university throughout their tenure—a vibrant student life with a broad array of activities to fit diverse interests.
