UC San Diego Alumnus and Research Scientist Honored with DRI Nevada Medal
Awards & AccoladesAlbert Yu-Min Lin may now be even better known in Nevada than he is in his home state of California. The research scientist from the Qualcomm Institute at the University of California, San Diego was in Nevada in late March to accept the 27th Desert Research Institute (DRI) Nevada Medal.
ARCS Foundation Names V.S. Ramachandran ‘Scientist of the Year’

Ramachandran, director of the Center for Brain and Cognition at UC San Diego, was recently honored as the 2014 Scientist of the Year by the San Diego chapter of the Achievement Rewards for College Scientists (ARCS) Foundation. The award was presented April 4 at the organization’s annual Scientist of the Year dinner.

In addition, UC San Diego is listed as having the 10th best ROI, out of 434 public colleges, for mid-career (15 year of experience) alumni who earn on average more than $100,000 annually.
40th Faculty Excellence Awards Honors Outstanding Teaching, Research and Service
Awards & AccoladesAs educators, they powerfully inspire student ambition; as researchers, they drive scholarship to new heights; and as citizens, they reach out to the community to expand resources to the underserved. Six UC San Diego faculty members will be honored at the 40th annual Chancellor’s Associates Faculty Excellence Awards for going above and beyond to make a positive impact in their teaching, research and service. The recognition ceremony will be held Thursday, March 20 at 5:30 p.m. at the J.R. Beyster Auditorium at the Rady School of Management.
