The annual Black Surf Week kicked off the academic year by inviting a cohort of over 30 student participants to dive headfirst into educational sessions and activities that explore and discuss Black and African Diasporic relationships to land and water.
A fresh academic year has officially begun at UC San Diego and the campus is bustling with activity. More than 150,000 first year and transfer students applied to join the university, over 32,000 were admitted and an estimated 10,000 new undergraduate students are expected to enroll this fall.
This fall, UC San Diego will be able to provide on-campus housing to nearly 14,000 undergraduate students. Beyond beds, new projects bring space for a new undergraduate college, innovative green features, diverse dining, campus-inspired art and open space for all to enjoy.
Triton Weeks of Welcome is officially underway, starting the academic year off on a high note with an immersive campus-wide series of more than one hundred introductory activities, special programs and signature events.
Three on-campus markets—Roger’s Market, Sixth Market and Seventh Market—will feature Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology, eliminating checkout lines and saving valuable time for students, faculty and staff.
This summer high school students gained access to college-level online courses that built their confidence and academic transcript through the new Discover UC San Diego program. Also, more than 700 incoming first year students took part in the 45th annual Summer Bridge to prepare for fall quarter.
