We put out the call, and you answered. We asked you to dig up your own campus artifacts and share them with us at UC San Diego Magazine. Here is a sampling of what we received from you. We’re still accepting photos of your special items to add to our trove. Take a snapshot and email us at magazine@ucsd.edu to tell us a brief story about your artifact and your time at UC San Diego.

Hello! I saw your note in the spring issue of UC San Diego Magazine asking for photos of artifacts. One is attached: a poster developed for a concert put on by the Atomicafe, a group of UC San Diego music students, mostly graduates who put on regular concerts.
Some of the concerts were held at the Center for Music Experiment, which at that time was on the Fort Matthews campus, in one of the larger buildings. If I recall correctly, the bookstore was still over there back then.

Attending UC San Diego gave me the special opportunity to closely interact with many world-class professors in a variety of fields.
A 1972 Time Magazine article about the University of California system included a picture of a beginning sculpture class taught by Newton Harrison. In the picture, he is evaluating my piece that dealt with split personalities. I’m in the foreground, slouching with my feet sticking out.

The Craft Center was where I went to relax and take my mind off of my studies. I sold numerous items at the Craft Center “pot sales” that were held.

Did you attend a class in a Quonset hut, like 1974 alumnus Chuck Bahde? Or perhaps you attended an Atomicafe or Craft Center event? Tell us about it at magazine@ucsd.edu.
