Fall 2024 Issue: Our Changing Planet

From the deepest oceans to the stars above, our planet is changing. Our way of life — from the cars we drive to the way we work — is evolving. This issue of UC San Diego Magazine explores the technological advances in electric vehicle batteries, from sourcing to reuse and recycling. We also examine ethical algorithms in AI, the current state of democracy worldwide and more. At the forefront of investigating these advances are the UC San Diego faculty, students, staff and alumni. It’s at UC San Diego where interdisciplinary research meets curiosity, resulting in practical solution-based answers to today’s most pressing issues.
