Students for a Democratic Society Founder Tom Hayden to Speak on Activism at UC San Diego
Campus NewsTom Hayden – activist, founder of Students for a Democratic Society (SDS) and former Calif. state Senator and Assemblyman – will deliver a talk titled “Student Movements: Then and Now” at 6 p.m., Nov. 5 at the Robinson Auditorium on the campus of the University of California, San Diego. The event, free and open to the public, is sponsored by the Chicano/a~Latino/a Arts and Humanities (CLAH) minor, Thurgood Marshall College, the Department of Political Science and the Department of literature.
ARCS Foundation Funds Scholar Awards for UC San Diego Graduate Students
GivingThe San Diego chapter of ARCS® Foundation, Inc., awarded $232,500 in fellowships to support 31 graduate students at the University of California, San Diego, for the 2012-13 academic year. The ARCS Foundation, a national volunteer women’s organization, provides awards to top students studying science, medicine and engineering.
Robertson Foundation for Government Pledges Nearly $1 Million for UC San Diego Graduate Students
GivingSeveral University of California, San Diego graduate students will receive full financial support over the next few years thanks to an additional $500,000 gift from the Robertson Foundation for Government. This most recent gift is an extension of the foundation’s initial commitment of $450,000, which was pledged in 2010 and created the Robertson Fellows Program at UC San Diego’s School of International Relations and Pacific Studies (IR/PS).
Students Give Back in Record Numbers

New Associate Vice Chancellor for Development Named at UC San Diego Health Sciences
GivingEffective October 1, Kristin Bertell has assumed the position of associate vice chancellor for Health Sciences Development at the University of California, San Diego. In this role, Bertell is responsible for all fund raising related to Health Sciences, including clinical, research and academic programs.
