The University of California, San Diego will recognize the contributions of César E. Chávez throughout the months of April and May with a series of events which will include a lecture from Hilda Solis, former U.S. Secretary of Labor; a celebration of Chicano Park’s 43rd anniversary; film screenings and several outreach events with the San Diego community.
The University of California, San Diego’s annual Muir Musical returns this year with a production of “Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street.” This chilling tale of a man wrongly accused and seeking revenge through the guise of a barber shop will bring together students from all six colleges for a full-scale Broadway show by the Muir Musical Ensemble.
Amos Oz, one of Israel’s most distinguished novelists and public intellectuals, will deliver a free public talk in UC San Diego’s Mandeville Auditorium on April 22, at 7 p.m.
“Five! Four! Three! Two! One!” A robotic skateboard soared high into the air and above Paul Schmitt, a scientist and skateboard designer, then landed with a thud on the floor of the Main Gym on the UC San Diego campus on Monday, March 18.

Every February, posters for UC San Diego’s United Way/CHAD Campaign begin to appear in campus elevators, break-rooms, hallways and offices. Invitations to fundraising events and requests to make a pledge to the campaign follow. For some, that’s where their involvement with the campaign ends.
