ARCS Foundation Funds Scholar Awards for UC San Diego Graduate Students

The San Diego chapter of ARCS® Foundation, Inc., awarded $232,500 in fellowships to support 31 graduate students at the University of California, San Diego, for the 2012-13 academic year. The ARCS Foundation, a national volunteer women’s organization, provides awards to top students studying science, medicine and engineering.

UC San Diego Alumna Gives $100,000 to International Undergraduate Research Program

The University of California, San Diego’s international research program Pacific Rim Undergraduate Experiences (PRIME) recently received a pleasant surprise—a $100,000 gift from young alumna Haley Hunter-Zinck. The funds will support the greatest needs of the PRIME program, including assistance for future students who travel to the Pacific Rim to conduct research. Hunter-Zinck made the donation in memory of her late mother, Jennifer Zinck.

Six UC San Diego Chancellor’s Medal Honorees Announced

The University of California, San Diego has announced the recipients of the prestigious Chancellor’s Medals for 2012. Those chosen for the honor are Bob and Betty Beyster, Julia Brown, Peter and Peggy Preuss, and the late Arthur Brody, who passed away after he was selected to receive the award. The Chancellor’s Medal is one of the highest honors bestowed by UC San Diego to honor exceptional service in support of the university’s mission.
