The University of California, San Diego has been ranked the 20th best university in the world in a new global ranking that measures universities’ quality of education and training of students as well as the prestige of the faculty and the quality of their research.

In a new college affordability ranking, the University of California, San Diego has been named the 6th best college in California for its return on investment for graduates. On average, UC San Diego alumni enter the workforce earning an estimated $48,400 per year after graduation, positioning the university among the most financially effective of all California post-secondary schools.

Those were some of the words of wisdom comedian Lewis Black shared Saturday with 1,200 graduating Thurgood Marshall College students as part of UC San Diego’s 2013 commencement series.
