The T. Denny Sanford Institute for Empathy and Compassion at UC San Diego will investigate the neurological basis of compassion, design a compassion-focused medical curriculum and develop new methods to protect and promote the well-being of current clinicians and their patients.

Four UC San Diego students are the recipients of the 2019 Undergraduate Library Research Prize. Now in its 13th year, the annual award recognizes the outstanding scholarly work of undergraduate students who demonstrate strategic use of Library services and resources.
Two UC San Diego undergraduate students were named Donald A. Strauss Foundation Public Service Scholars, and were awarded a $15,000 prize to pursue their social change and public service projects.
