Global TIES Team Earns Honors For Solar Lantern Project

Undergraduate students from UC San Diego designed and built an extremely affordable solar-powered lantern to provide not only light, but a source of income to a partner village in the Philippines. Their engineering and business savvy earned them the top spot in the Energy and Resources category at the Big Ideas social innovation competition at UC Berkeley, a third place finish at Booz Allen Hamilton’s Ideas Festival, and a spot at the Clinton Global Initiative University.

Preuss School at UC San Diego Once Again Ranked Top High School in San Diego

The Preuss School UCSD has been named the top high school in San Diego County by U.S. News and World Report, which just released its annual list of “Best High Schools.” The school also received a Gold Award designation and was ranked the #6 school in the State of California based on performance on state assessments, graduation rates and college preparation.

UC San Diego Professor Natalia Molina Wins 2018 China Residency Exchange Fellowship

University of California San Diego professor Natalia Molina has been awarded the 2018 China Residency at Wuhan University by the Organization of American Historians. Given in partnership with the American History Research Association of China, the residency will see Molina present a summer seminar on race and politics in the context of the United States.

Emilie Hafner-Burton Awarded for Going Above and Beyond to Make a Positive Difference in the World
