On Feb. 9, bestselling novelist and activist Cory Doctorow will be back on the UC San Diego campus for a lecture at the Qualcomm Institute on the Earth's finite resources as reflected in his 2017 novel, WALKAWAY.
Three graduate students in choreography, visual arts and music composition are premiering a new multimedia installation and dance performance on January 25 from 5-7pm in the Qualcomm Institute's Atkinson Hall at UC San Diego.
Two new works selected for the prestigious Humana Festival of New American Plays were written by University of California San Diego playwrights, marking the first time a UC San Diego faculty member and MFA student have had their work featured simultaneously.

The University of California San Diego’s 22nd Annual Lytle Scholarship Concert will feature a unique solo improvisation set from visionary musicians Cecil Lytle, Kei Akagi, Mike Wofford and Tobin Chodos, capped off by a show-stopping finale that merges the talents of all four performers. The campus and local community are invited to the concert, entitled “Jazz Piano Summit,” on Sunday, Jan. 28. All proceeds will benefit undergraduate scholarships at UC San Diego.
UC San Diego’s extensive influence in the music, art and literature scene throughout the entire region is on full display this month, with cross-border collaborations, up-close artist encounters and multiple, chest-pounding performances.
The 2017-18 Holocaust Living History Workshops continue this January with six profound lectures focusing on the roles of memory and justice in the process of renewal following the persecution of countless individuals during the Holocaust. The 2018 speakers will remind us that these concepts constitute the threads that run through the tapestry of a history that is tragic yet also inspiring.
