UC San Diego alumnus Ross Tate (Ph.D. ’12), now a computer-science professor at Cornell, will receive the Dahl-Nygaard Prize in 2017 for “fundamental contributions to type systems with applications to object-oriented languages.”

In her first year as an assistant professor at UC San Diego, Computer Science and Engineering as well as Medicine professor Melissa Gymrek is already bringing honor to the institution. In its 2017 roster of top-notch young scientists, Forbes magazine included Gymrek among its top 30 researchers in the Science category under age 30.
