These nanoparticles are capable of delivering drugs to targeted sites in the body — particularly injured blood vessels and organs infected by harmful bacteria. On Sept. 14, Mayor Kevin L. Faulconer and UC San Diego Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla announced their participation as founding members of the recently created MetroLab Network.
