Premature Baby Grows Up to “Cuddle”
Health & BehaviorTwenty-five years ago, Sean and Mihi McNanie anxiously watched their premature baby fight for her life. Shea was born at just 25 weeks gestation—she weighed less than two pounds. She was kept alive, in critical condition, by machines, medications and a dedicated staff at UC San Diego Medical Center’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU). She required round-the-clock care for three and a half months.
