UC San Diego’s Engineering and Management Schools Continue to Strengthen Collaborations

The University of California San Diego has emerged as a leader in how engineering and management schools within one university can collaborate in order to strengthen entrepreneurship education, startup creation, and the commercialization of innovation. The latest move: a pair of unique endowed chair professorships. The Jacobs Family Chairs in Engineering Management Leadership have been awarded to the two professors leading the UC San Diego Institute for the Global Entrepreneur, which is the centerpiece of the collaboration between the Jacobs School of Engineering and the Rady School of Management.

UC San Diego Health Named Dementia Research Center of Excellence

The Lewy Body Dementia Association (LBDA), announced today that UC San Diego Health has been named a LBDA Research Centers of Excellence (RCOE), a partnership of 24 pre-eminent academic medical research centers across the United States. LBDA is a leading advocacy group dedicated to raising awareness and advancing research and treatment of Lewy body dementia (LBD).

UC San Diego’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month Events Mark Pioneering Prevention and Support Efforts

Established in 1988 by a group of dedicated staff and grassroots activists, the University of California San Diego’s CARE at the Sexual Assault Resource Center has been a standard-bearer of survivor support services and prevention education for campus sexual assault, relationship violence and stalking. As the campus recognizes Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) in April, the center will hold events looking back at the pioneering work in support services and rape prevention, while moving forward to inform individuals how they can use their voice to promote a safe and respectful community and stop sexual violence before it happens.

UC San Diego Philosophy Department Ranked Top 20 in the Nation

Based in part on an exceptional faculty with broad strengths in the philosophy of science, history of philosophy, philosophy of mind, and ethics, the University of California San Diego Department of Philosophy increased its international prestige by ranking as one of the top 20 Ph.D. philosophy programs in the United States.

Scott Barton, Principal of The Preuss School at UC San Diego, Honored by Local Rotary

The La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary announced that the recipient of the 2018 Hahn Visionary Award is Scott Barton, principal of The Preuss School UCSD, a charter middle and high school on the University of California San Diego campus for low income students who strive to become the first in their families to graduate from college.
