UC San Diego is embarking on an era of transformation – one that will improve our campus and increase our societal impact – thanks to the collective creation of our first-ever Strategic Plan. That was the message Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla shared at the April 24 Town Hall at the Faculty Club.
On Saturday, May 3, the UC San Diego Bookstore will host a special celebration as part of the inaugural California Bookstore Day to recognize book lovers of all ages and engage the campus and local community in literary-themed fun.
Last quarter, Shaila Bonanno graduated from UC San Diego with a bachelor’s degree in human biology and aspirations to pursue medical school. Before she begins her medical training, however, Bonanno is taking a gap year to pursue another passion: teaching. She applied to and has been accepted to serve with City Year, an AmeriCorps program that partners with public schools in high-need communities to help keep students in school and on track to graduation.
New York Times bestselling author and physicist David Brin, angel investor and Red Cross instructor Kai Chang and Miss California 2013 Crystal Lee are among the speakers selected to present at the 2014 TEDxUCSD. Now in its second year, the on-campus event will bring together 15 leading thinkers and doers from across multiple fields—many of whom are affiliated with UC San Diego—to engage the campus community with “ideas worth spreading.”
The UC San Diego community has set a new course for the university through the development of our first-ever Strategic Plan, which outlines five ambitious goals that will improve the student, staff and faculty experience, and positively impact society.
Join Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla and members of the UC San Diego community on a 3.1-mile scenic course through campus. While supporting student scholarships, participants will pass the King Triton statue, the iconic Geisel Library and several renowned public artworks from the Stuart Collection.
