The lack of female jazz musicians is by no means a new phenomenon, but it is a persistent one. To help change that, UC San Diego Jazz Camp is working to recruit more girls and women to its five-day summer program.

Though dubbed “Advertising’s New ‘It Girl’” by Adweek, the story behind 28-year-old Vayntrub is one of ambition and audacity coming straight from her days at UC San Diego.
UC San Diego Health Sciences launched a new podcast this month called N Equals One that will feature early-career scientists, such as graduate students and postdocs, talking about hot topics in science. Each will offer the story of one project, one discovery or one scientist.
A campus-wide interdisciplinary research collaborative, the Black Studies Project connects faculty, graduate and undergraduate students from across UC San Diego who are producing cutting-edge scholarship on black life, culture and experiences.
Every Sunday afternoon, the local community is invited to explore the University of California, San Diego’s unique architecture, public art collection and vibrant living and learning neighborhoods. The free, two-hour tours highlight the history of the university and its role in the biotech boom; the evolution of UC San Diego’s six colleges; its green building designs and strategies; and other notable points of interest across the 1,200-acre campus.
The University of California, San Diego and Centro de Ensenanza Tecnica y Superior (CETYS) of Baja California, Mexico have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to strengthen and increase collaboration, focusing on entrepreneurship, innovation and policy. The initiative was formalized March 3 by UC San Diego Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla and CETYS University President Fernando Leon Garcia.
