George Mandler – founding chair of the University of California San Diego’s Department of Psychology and one of the central figures in psychology’s cognitive revolution – died in his Hampstead, London home on May 6, 2016. He was 91.

Emeriti Association Honors Ruth Covell and Charles Kennel for Continued Service

When you love what you do, there is no such thing as ‘retirement.’ Dr. Ruth Covell and Charles Kennel are emeriti faculty, yet they continue to dedicate their time and expertise to students and faculty at UC San Diego, as well as the local community. In honor of their continued service, Covell and Kennel received the Dickson Award, which includes a $10,000 grant to support their teaching, research and service initiatives.

UC San Diego Inter-Tribal Resource Center Welcomes Inaugural Director

As a college student, Elena Hood knew firsthand the importance of having a place to call home and find familiar faces. In her own experience as an undergraduate, it was her involvement with the Native community that played an integral role in her academic success. This summer, Hood will begin to cultivate similar opportunities for community growth at UC San Diego as the inaugural director of the Inter-Tribal Resource Center, the campus’ newest space dedicated to inclusion and outreach efforts.
