Nobel Laureate to be Honored at 19th Annual Luau and Longboard Invitational August 19
GivingFor Nobel laureate Roger Tsien, the drive to help find a cure for cancer stems from personal experience. His father battled prostate cancer and ultimately lost his life to pancreatic cancer. As a professor of pharmacology, chemistry and biochemistry at UC San Diego and a Howard Hughes Medical Institute investigator, he has worked to develop a novel way to image and possibly even deliver specially targeted drugs to cancer tumors.
University of California Partners with Fudan University to Establish Center on China
Campus NewsFudan University in Shanghai, China is partnering with the University of California to establish a Fudan-UC center to foster academic exchange and collaborative research on China. The center, a first-of-its-kind internationalization initiative made by a major Chinese university, will be located on the campus of the University of California, San Diego, hosted by the campus’ School of International Relations and Pacific Studies (IR/PS).
Golfers Unite for a Cure at Brian Schultz Memorial Golf Classic August 11
Giving“Good times for a good cause” is the philosophy of the annual Brian Schultz Memorial Golf Classic, taking place Saturday, August 11 at the Rancho Bernardo Inn. Featuring live entertainment and great food—in addition to golf—the tournament raises funds for cancer research at the UC San Diego Moores Cancer Center.
UC San Diego Health System Highlighted in Healthcare Equality Index 2012
