As a central meeting place on campus, the club builds a sense of fellowship among faculty and staff, alumni and community members. Permanently established as a campus forum in 1988, the Faculty Club will celebrate its 25th anniversary this year with a special celebration.

A steel beam, painted white and graced by a living evergreen tree, an American flag, and dozens of signatures and messages, swung across a blue sky and into place atop the superstructure of UC San Diego Jacobs Medical Center Thursday. The final beam marked the midpoint between groundbreaking and completion—and a huge milestone for UC San Diego. The special event was “topped out” with a surprise announcement from Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla.

Over the years, Transportation Services has played a significant role in transforming UC San Diego into an award-winning campus for sustainability. The percentage of campus commuters using alternative transportation has increased from 34 to an impressive 59 percent in just the last 10 years. As a result, Transportation Services’ costs for funding transit and shuttle programs have dramatically increased over the past several years, while incoming revenue from parking has decreased.
