Brian E. C. Schottlaender, The Audrey Geisel University Librarian at the University of California, San Diego, has been named the 2015 winner of the American Library Association’s Hugh C. Atkinson Memorial Award. Schottlaender, will receive a cash award and citation during the 2015 ALA Annual Conference in San Francisco this June.
Hats Off to Dr. Seuss!, an exhibit of original hats from Theodor Seuss Geisel’s personal collection, will be on display in Geisel Library on the UC San Diego campus from Feb. 24 through March 22, just in time for the University’s annual Dr. Seuss Birthday Party on March 2.
Rae Arnold had never experienced any problems with her heart. But in June 2011, she began having chest pains and underwent emergency triple bypass surgery at a hospital in San Diego. After 12 weeks of rehabilitation, she began experiencing symptoms again and had to go in for another surgery. This one did not go as planned.
