Sally Ride Science @ UC San Diego presented Women in Leadership 2024 on Thursday, May 23, before a sold-out audience in the UC San Diego Price Center East Ballroom. Held annually in May to mark astronaut and former UC San Diego professor Sally Ride’s birthday month, the Women in Leadership event honors Ride’s passion for the future and women’s role in it.
Stories Unsheltered consists of a mural and statues with voice recordings telling the stories of San Diegans who have experienced housing insecurity.
On the evening of Friday, May 17, 400 guests from UC San Diego and the local community gathered at the Jeannie Auditorium on the UC San Diego campus to hear Dr. Bernice A. King ponder society's yearning for change as she reflected on the legacy of her parents, Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King.

Sponsored by the Vertex IWILL Employee Resource Network (Inspiring Women in Leadership and Learning) and the UC San Diego Office of the Chancellor, the anticipated event brings together a panel of women leaders to share their personal stories and visions on how women can help guide us to a better future.
