An annual tradition to honor the commitment and contributions of UC San Diego staff members, this year’s All Staff Picnic was a hit with more than 3,000 people in attendance. Held Aug. 16 in Town Square, staff members were treated to a tasty lunch by Bar None BBQ and entertained by the Full Strength Funk Band.

UC San Diego Alumnus Rex Pickett, known best for “Sideways,” his hilarious, best-selling novel about the exploits of two old college buddies on a wine-enriched road trip, has donated his personal papers to the Library’s Special Collections. The archive includes a wide range of materials—including posters, photographs, and other memorabilia—both from the novel and the wildly popular movie it spawned.
The Center for Integrative Medicine (CIM) at UC San Diego Health System welcomes Deepak Choprafor a special program July 22. One of the top 100 Heroes and Icons of the 20th Century according to Time Magazine, Chopra is credited as “the poet-prophet" of integrative medicine. Event participants will engage in an inspirational, interactive evening with Chopra and have the opportunity to meet the CIM team.
