Free UC San Diego Public Tours Held Every Sunday

UC San Diego’s Visitors Tour Program offers free tours to local residents, new faculty and staff, first-time visitors and the general public. These Sunday afternoon tours are led by knowledgeable adult volunteer guides. Walking tours are conducted the first Sunday of every month, while tours are by bus for the remaining Sundays of the month.

UC San Diego Named National Leader in the Transition to Electric Vehicles

The University of California San Diego was recently the sole organization selected by the awards committee as a winner of Plug In America’s first annual Drive Electric Awards. The Drive Electric Awards was created to give special recognition the people and organizations striving to accelerate the transition to vehicle electrification in the United States. UC San Diego has received numerous nominations, a testament to the work the university is doing to further the EV (electric vehicle) movement.

UC San Diego’s EV Charging Program Awarded for Modeling “Energy System of the Future”

The University of California San Diego has been honored with the 2018 Grid Edge Innovation Award for serving as an epicenter for research, development and commercialization on smart electric vehicle (EV) charging. UC San Diego has collaborations with over 18 companies and organizations in providing 135 EV charging stations on campus. In May alone, more than 700 different EVs were charged by UC San Diego’s world-renowned microgrid.

Out to Change the World

UC San Diego leaders recently embarked on a “changemaking” mission to Boston, accepting the campus’ official designation as a Changemaker Campus by Ashoka, the world’s largest network of social entrepreneurs. The designation ceremony took place at Babson College as part of the annual Ashoka U Exchange.
