October 29, 2024 — The Burke Lectureship on Religion and Society, presented by UC San Diego Extended Studies, was founded to provide a dedicated platform for exploring the big questions that religion was meant to answer. This season, the lectureship, which celebrates its 40th anniversary at UC San Diego in April 2025, presented two moving and resonant events about gun violence to explore how individuals and communities can persist through tragedy. Featured presenters were film producer Susan Margolin with the screening of "A Tree of Life: the Pittsburgh Synagogue Shooting" and gun violence prevention advocate David Miles Hogg, a mass shooting survivor from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida.

September 10, 2024 — The theme of "Partnership and Collaboration” will take center stage on Thursday, September 18 at UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies Showcase 2024. Hosted in the new 8980 Villa La Jolla Drive building–-just across from UC San Diego's entrance at La Jolla Village Drive—the day's agenda will highlight the various services and benefits Extended Studies offers to support campus and community partners in achieving growth and innovation to meet their goals.

June 4, 2024 — Sally Ride Science @ UC San Diego presented Women in Leadership 2024 on Thursday, May 23, before a sold-out audience in the UC San Diego Price Center East Ballroom. Held annually in May to mark astronaut and former UC San Diego professor Sally Ride’s birthday month, the Women in Leadership event honors Ride’s passion for the future and women’s role in it.

May 28, 2024 — On the evening of Friday, May 17, 400 guests from UC San Diego and the local community gathered at the Jeannie Auditorium on the UC San Diego campus to hear Dr. Bernice A. King ponder society's yearning for change as she reflected on the legacy of her parents, Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King.

October 3, 2023 — UC San Diego Extended Studies hosted a full day of learning, discovery, and exploration at Showcase 2023 on Thursday, September 21, in celebration of powerful partnerships.

September 12, 2023 — Four diverse programs from University of California, San Diego Television (UCSD-TV) have been recognized with a Telly Award for outstanding work created on behalf of UC San Diego campus partners. The annual Telly Awards are the world’s largest honor for video and television across all screens.

September 5, 2023 — Learning, discovery, and exploration meet in spectacular fashion on Thursday, September 21, when UC San Diego Division of Extended Studies hosts Showcase 2023. In-person experiences at UC San Diego Park & Market, combined with virtual webinars, highlight valuable services and programs.

June 8, 2023 — June 18, 2023, marks the 40th anniversary of the day Sally Ride blasted off aboard shuttle Challenger to become America’s first woman in space. Today, the Women in Leadership event is presented annually by Sally Ride Science @ UC San Diego to honor a decades-long legacy of blazing new trails.
