Kate Antonovics
Kate Antonovics has two main strands of research. One focuses on income inequality with a particular focus on the sources of race and gender inequality and the role that both preference-based discrimination and statistical discrimination play in perpetuating that inequality. The other strand of her research focuses on employer learning, and how employer's wage and promotion decisions are influenced by the arrival of new information about workers' talents. More…

Mary Blair Loy
Mary Blair-Loy is an Associate Professor of Sociology and Founding Director for the Center for Research on Gender in the Professions. She researches gender, family and career, and how social and cultural structures affect individual thoughts, emotions, and actions. Blair-Loy has been published in a variety of sociology journals and reviews. Her book, Competing Devotions: Career and Family Among Executive Women, focuses on how a cultural mindset of devotion to work and family influence the structuring of businesses and family life, and how these perspectives shape the role of women at work and at home. Melissa Famulari
Melissa Famulari is a faculty member in the Department of Economics. Her main field of research is labor economics, and she also researches health economics and health and the labor market. Her publications include Employer Wage Differentials in the United States and Denmark and Wage, Tenure, and Wage Growth Variation Within and Across Establishments. More…

Gordon Hanson
Gordon Hanson is the director of the Center on Pacific Economies and is a professor of economics at UC San Diego. His current research examines the international migration of skilled labor, the economics of illegal immigration, the relationship between business cycles and global outsourcing, and international trade in religion. In recent work, he has studied the impact of trade and immigration on wages and the origins of political opposition to immigration. More…

Marc Andres-Muendler
Marc Muendler conducts research into the local impacts of global markets. In the area of international trade he investigates how globalization affects local industries and labor markets. Much of his research is based on novel linked data on firms and their individual workers. For industrialized countries, he studies the formation and operation of multinational enterprises and their impact on labor markets in Germany and Sweden. More…

Mary Walshok, Ph.D., is Associate Vice Chancellor for Public Programs at the University of California, Dean, University Extension and Adjunct Professor of Sociology.
