2023 San Diego Pride Parade

Those who registered to march received a Pride-themed t-shirt that was designed by Triton Outfitters to match the Philadelphia Pride flag.

They ran down the street with their instruments and played tunes while lying on the ground. UC San Diego's Pep Band brought unmatched energy that inspired cheers from onlookers.

Several departments from UC San Diego attended the event, including the Black Resource Center; Housing, Dining, Hospitality; the Women's Center; and more.

According to Korie Houston (he/him/his), programs and operations coordinator for UC San Diego's LGBT Resource Center, this year's Pride Parade was the largest it has been in the past five years.

Attendees carried rainbow flags, wore colorful tie-dyed shirts, carried vibrant umbrellas and more.

More than 200 participants marched with UC San Diego Health, donning shirts that had a stethoscope formed in the shape of a heart with rainbow colors.

The San Diego Pride Parade is considered among the largest Prides in the United States, attracting over 300,000 people annually.

Participants marched 1.5 miles, starting at the Hillcrest Pride Flag all the way to Balboa Park. Many brought their own banners and flags.

The UC San Diego Pep Band led the contingent, which included a zero emissions university shuttle.

UC San Diego students also gave out shirts during the parade, including small sizes that children and youth could have.

Prior to the parade, the LGBT Resource Center invited members of the campus community to a Pride Work Party to create banners that they could carry while marching.
