When John Kelly, IBM’s senior vice president for research, and four other IBM leaders visited UC San Diego in mid-October, they were keenly interested in the broad, diverse areas of research well under way on campus.

The Adolescent Brain Cognitive Development (ABCD) study – by the National Institutes of Health, with leadership from the University of California San Diego – aims to change that. The largest long-term study of brain development and child health in the United States is now underway.
