Researchers at the School of Medicine have discovered a molecular pathway critical to the initiation of pancreatic tumors. The mechanism could also contribute to the disease’s high resistance to chemotherapy and its propensity for metastasis. The ultraviolet nail polish drying devices used to cure gel manicures—which are a common fixture in nail salons—may pose more of a public health concern than previously thought.
