A father of four who went back to school at age 29 to provide a better future for himself and his children and a psychology major whose post-graduate plans include eradicating poverty have been selected to inspire new graduates to give back, as the student speakers for this year’s All Campus Commencement ceremony.

Khosla, Executive Vice Chancellor Suresh Subramani and University Librarian Brian Schottlaender in celebrating the grand opening of Audrey’s, the long-awaited Geisel Library café, named for Library benefactor and longtime friend and supporter of the university Audrey Geisel.
Elizabeth Reed, assistant professor in the School of Medicine at the University of California San Diego, was honored at the April 29 YWCA Tribute to Women & Industry Awards (TWIN) as a TWIN Humanitarian. As a child in Vietnam, Huy Nguyen gazed up at the sky with wonder. Space travel and rockets captivated him. A career focused on our universe, however, seemed like unlikely, if not impossible. Yet with hard work, coupled with the support of his family and the community, Nguyen is now pursuing his lifelong passion as an aerospace engineering major at UC San Diego.
