Audrey Geisel, a devoted philanthropist, business leader and wife of the late Theodor “Dr. Seuss” Geisel, died on December 19, 2018. She was 97.

Holocaust Living History Workshop Series Will Focus on History, Memory and Meaning for 2018-19
This fall, the Holocaust Living History Workshop once again launches its year-long series of educational events composed of eight seminars, a documentary film screening and a photography exhibition underscoring this year’s theme, “History, Memory & Meaning of the Holocaust.” The workshops are presented by the UC San Diego Library and the UC San Diego Jewish Studies Program.

UC San Diego Names Erik T. Mitchell New Audrey Geisel University Librarian
Erik T. Mitchell, Ph.D. has been appointed university librarian at the University of California San Diego effective April 16, 2018. Mitchell currently serves as associate university librarian of Digital Initiatives and Collaborative Services and associate chief information officer at UC Berkeley.

Now, in his book East West Street, Sands explores the creation and development of legal concepts that came about as a result of Hitler's Third Reich which changes our understanding of history and how civilization has tried to cope with mass murder.
2018 Holocaust Living History Workshops Highlight Justice and Accountability after the Holocaust
The 2017-18 Holocaust Living History Workshops continue this January with six profound lectures focusing on the roles of memory and justice in the process of renewal following the persecution of countless individuals during the Holocaust. The 2018 speakers will remind us that these concepts constitute the threads that run through the tapestry of a history that is tragic yet also inspiring.
