Olympian, Athletics and Campus Community Show UC Pride at Onward California

Olympian athlete Sonali Merrill joined King Triton, the men’s water polo team, women’s volleyball team and the campus community for Onward California Monday in Town Square. Merrill signed autographs and posed for photos as attendees added their names to the “I Believe in UC” art wall and enjoyed free gelato.

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) today announced the names of 70 new members and 10 foreign associates during its 42nd annual meeting. Included are two new members from the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine: David A. Brenner, MD, vice chancellor for Health Sciences and dean of the UCSD School of Medicine, and Don W. Cleveland, PhD, chair of the UCSD Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine, and professor of medicine, neurosciences, and cellular and molecular medicine at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research.

Anne Willan, the celebrated chef and cookbook author, will give a talk on “The Cookbook Family Tree: The History of Early Cookbooks,” at the UC San Diego Faculty Club on October 23 at 5 p.m. Her talk will include a reception and book signing of The Cookbook Library: Four Centuries of the Cooks, Writers, and Recipes That Made the Modern Cookbook.
