UC San Diego to Study Accelerated Aging in Schizophrenia

Researchers at the Stein Institute for Research on Aging at the University of California, San Diego have received a $4 million grant from the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH), part of the National Institutes of Health, to study accelerated biological aging in schizophrenia.

SDSC Supercharges its ‘Data Oasis’ Storage System

The San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC) has completed the deployment of its Lustre-based Data Oasis parallel file system, with four petabytes (PB) of capacity and 100 gigabytes per second (GB/s), to handle the data-intensive needs of the center’s new Gordon supercomputer.

The Triton Family Celebrates

They came. They saw. They celebrated. Almost 2,500 alumni returned to UC San Diego for UCSD Alumni’s annual Alumni Weekend, held May 31 through June 3. Attendees enjoyed reconnecting with friends, former classmates and faculty, while revisiting the campus and recalling many UC San Diego memories. Both a kickoff to the start of summer and a time to celebrate all things UC San Diego, the annual weekend brought together many sections of the Triton family.

A Vision to Help

Students at the Jacobs School of Engineering are working to develop a cheaper, lighter, multi-function microscope that could be used in clinics in developing countries. Their prototype will be flown to Mozambique this summer and field tested at Universidade Eduardo Mondlane in the country’s capital, Maputo.
