This weekend, another senseless act of hatred and violence occurred when a gunman attacked a synagogue right here in our San Diego community. One person was killed and three people were injured, joining the growing list of people around the world who have been targeted because of their identity, ethnicity, race, religion or beliefs. Our hearts go out to all who have been affected by this terrible tragedy, and we unequivocally condemn this horrific act, along with all other acts of violence that are the result of discrimination and racism.

A vigil will be held in memory of those injured and killed. The vigil will take place at 2 p.m. on Apr. 30 at the Silent Tree in front of Geisel Library, hosted by UC San Diego Hillel.
