Once again this week, the world awoke to news of a terrorist attack on innocent travelers. Scores were killed and injured in the Istanbul Ataturk Airport suicide bombing.
Our thoughts are with the victims of the most recent attack, the families struggling to make sense of these horrific acts, and with the first responders and leaders who seek to protect and serve. As a global public research university, UC San Diego stands with our campus members and colleagues, abroad and at home, who are affected by this tragedy.
This is a scenario all too frequent in our world. Scores around the world and on our campus will bear the emotional pain of this international crime against humanity and civilization. Support resources for UC San Diego faculty, staff and students include Counseling and Psychological Services, (858) 534-3755, and the Faculty and Staff Assistance Program, (858) 534-5523.
On behalf of the UC San Diego faculty, staff and students, I extend our sincere condolences to all affected by these terrorist actions.
Pradeep K. Khosla
Chancellor
