The skies were gloomy but spirits were bright last Tuesday as UC San Diego’s Pepper Canyon Hall welcomed three new tenants to its second floor: the Raza Resource Centro, Triton Transfer Hub and the PATHS Scholars Program

Members of the campus community marked the occasion with a grand opening celebration featuring remarks from university staff and leadership, a ribbon-cutting and more. In addition to fostering community building and a sense of belonging for students, the Pepper Canyon site also marks an exciting new chapter in expanding student support at UC San Diego.

Students, faculty and staff had the opportunity to tour the second floor, where representatives from each space welcomed guests to their new “home away from home.” Visitors enjoyed appetizers, refreshments and branded swag as they toured the rooms, picking up sweet treats like pan dulce in the Raza Resource Centro and sweatshirts from the Triton Transfer Hub.

As reaffirmed during the celebration’s opening remarks, the three new spaces help UC San Diego ensure that every student—regardless of their background—has what they need to be successful in the university community and beyond.
