Join alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends in Downtown San Diego Saturday, Oct. 15 as we celebrate the launch of the UC San Diego Blue Line and unveil several newly designed trolley cars for the first time. Each design tells the story of the university—our innovative spirit, our aim to break things better, to create the unexpected and follow the path less traveled.
Located in the heart of the Gaslamp, the festive celebration takes place from 2-4 p.m. and will be a family-friendly event, with free trolley rides, good eats, lots of fun activities for the kids and cool giveaways. Experience how UC San Diego breaks from the ordinary to do boundary-breaking work, by checking out the trolley designs and our cool new plant-powered charging stations, which will be located at the Gaslamp Quarter and Old Town/UC San Diego Hillcrest trolley stations.
Thanks to a partnership with the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS), the light rail system is scheduled to debut on campus in 2021 and will create a unique opportunity for our campus to share the value and impact we bring to the local community.
So come on out with your family and friends and help us celebrate a brand new era for UC San Diego!
