To promote e-bike ownership and a healthy commute, UC San Diego secured a discount of 15-20% on Velotric’s range of e-bikes for faculty, staff and students with a valid UC San Diego email address. This significant discount will be available through the fall of 2025.

“UC San Diego is committed to building a healthy and environmentally-friendly campus,” said Assistant Director of Transportation Demand Management and Planning Curt Lutz. “Electric mobility is a key part of that sustainable and equitable program of transportation options.”

The university has invested in bike paths and secure bike storage throughout the campus. Over the next year, significant investments will be made to continually improve and expand secure bike cages across campus. New protected bikeway facilities have been added along Hopkins Drive and Pepper Canyon Drive, as well as improved network connections to the Central Campus station on the UC San Diego Blue line.

Adam Zhang, CEO and Co-Founder of Velotric, expressed his excitement stating, “Velotric is all about offering great bikes at great value, balancing excellent quality, safety, design with affordability. We believe this is an excellent way to introduce cycling as a viable mode of transportation.”

UC San Diego students, faculty and staff interested in the discount program can purchase a Velotric e-bike in-person at the university’s on-campus bike shop, Campus Bike & Skate, or buy their e-bike online on the Velotric site. Velotric will work closely with the campus bike shop to support e-bike servicing and parts.
