UC San Diego honored the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with the 23rd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service and by participating in the 43rd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade.
Approximately 100 volunteers from UC San Diego and John Muir Language Academy came together for Day of Service. Service projects included enhancing the physical space of the school, educating elementary and middle school students about the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and constructing an herb garden. The Day of Service focused on community building and connection to honor the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. and was dedicated to igniting change and fostering the spirit of activism, empowering campus and community members to take action and positively transforming our region and beyond.
At the 43rd Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Parade, the UC San Diego contingent marched down Harbor Boulevard and Pacific Highway and was led by a large "UC San Diego" banner, followed by the UC San Diego Pep Band, representatives from all eight of the university’s colleges and other members of the campus community.
