UC San Diego Receives $1M Grant from Mellon Foundation to Expand Cross-Border Work

In an era of wall-building, UC San Diego is creating links between the university and the marginalized communities straddling the U.S.-Mexico border. Now, a grant of $1 million from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation will help advance the Cross-Border Community Stations project, spearheaded by professors Teddy Cruz and Fonna Forman.

They will be recognized by the Chancellor's Associates at a ceremony on April 6.

IGNITE @ UC San Diego Aims to Accelerate Innovation

SD Councilmember Barbara Bry and CEO of the web startup Classy will explore San Diego’s innovation economy during the inaugural IGNITE @ UC San Diego conference Feb. 22. Featured events include a look inside new ventures during a “startup crawl” and 3 pitch competitions. The free conference is open to community, students and entrepreneurs from Baja-Cali region.
