As Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego’s 30th year “on the hill” comes to a close, the aquarium has much to celebrate including its all-time attendance record as well as an historic number of scholarships.

For the first time ever, Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UC San Diego has bred and successfully hatched two rare Weedy Seadragons. This is a first for Birch Aquarium, now one of the few aquariums in the world to hatch this unusual fish.

Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California San Diego is taking its mission to interpret Scripps research to new depths with the launch of Expedition at Sea: R/V Sally Ride, a dynamic new exhibit where visitors will experience the sights and sounds of life and work aboard a research vessel.
