Our hearts and thoughts go out to all of those affected by the fires in San Diego County, including many in our UC San Diego family. We ask our entire campus community to be flexible as employees and students need to evacuate their homes, ensure the safety and care of their family members and pets, and/or shelter in place to avoid traveling through the fire zones.
We recognize this is a stressful situation for many, especially with this being the last week of classes and with finals taking place next week. Compassion is so important during this time, and we urge faculty to demonstrate flexibility and take student needs into consideration this week and through finals week.
The UC San Diego campus is not in immediate danger and remains open. Classes will continue as scheduled. The UC San Diego Health System hospitals and clinics also remain open.
We want to assure parents and families that we continue to monitor the progression of the fire, and we have plans in place if the need arises to take further measures. For up-to-date information on the fires and available resources, visit the San Diego County Emergency website at http://sdcountyemergency.com. Please stay safe.
