UC San Diego and UC San Diego Health Communications Teams Honored for Their Work

University teams receive prestigious Bernays awards for campaigns, tactics and community service

Communications and public relations professionals from UC San Diego Health and UC San Diego’s University Communications were among those recognized in this year’s Bernays Awards, presented by the San Diego/Imperial Counties Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.

Entrants from UC San Diego were recognized in several different categories. In campaigns, a Silver honor was awarded for UC San Diego Health’s Mass Vaccination Events. In tactics, UC San Diego received recognition for initiatives related to COVID-19, wildfire prevention and more, and Jeanna Vazquez of UC San Diego Health received the Eva Irving Community Service Award.

“The work done by the communications teams here is top-notch, professional and strategic,” said Anne L. Buckley, APR, chief communications and marketing officer at UC San Diego. “We shine a light on the world-class research, education, world-class health care and community impact that is UC San Diego.”

The Bernays Mark of Excellence Awards honor initiatives in public relations that go above and beyond expectations, showcasing creativity, invention and innovation while fostering community unity. This year, the PRSA’s Bernays committee selected “Bolder, Brighter, Better” as its theme.
