Founders’ Day
11:30 a.m., Town Square, UC San Diego
Video
This year’s celebration commemorating the day the campus was officially founded in 1960 opens with a brief video, telling the story of our campus through the eyes of our past chancellors. Narrated by Jorge Huerta, professor emeritus from the department of theatre and dance, the video highlights key events that happened during each chancellor’s tenure at UC San Diego.
Investiture
You won’t want to miss the investiture of Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla, eighth chancellor of UC San Diego. An investiture is a ceremony at which someone is placed in an office or given an official rank. As part of the program, Chancellor Khosla will give a brief inspirational address.
Affinity Booths
After the program, visit the affinity booths for an opportunity to meet and reconnect with folks from nearly 20 academic departments, UCSD Alumni, campus organizations and more. You’ll find games, science displays and giveaways from throughout the square.
Food
Enjoy a sampling of free bites from the area’s top gourmet food trucks including Devilicious, Flippin’ Pizza, Super Q and The Dog Shack.
Entertainment
There will be live entertainment from the UCSD Tritones, Pep Band, King Triton and performances from artists in the Division of Arts and Humanities.
